Do I need to have my driving history translated?

I have already had all my documents translated in my country of origin; do I need to have them translated again by an ATIO-certified translator?
Yes. Once you are in Ontario, you will need to have your documents translated by an ATIO-certified translator. Most certifying bodies, evaluation organizations, and even Immigration and Citizenship require ATIO-certified translations. Some of the documents you may need to have translated are your driver’s license, educational credentials, identification documents, and professional licentiates. Therefore, when applying for a visa from outside of Canada, only have the documents immediately required for your Visa application translated.

Is the translator’s statement required on the certified translations or are the stamp and the seal sufficient?
Some organizations would not accept certified translations without the translator’s statement even when the translations are sealed and stamped. In fact, ATIO does not require certified translators to seal and stamp certified translations when the translator’s statement is included.
Do I need to have my passport translated for my citizenship application?
Yes. On the day of your citizenship interview, your officer will ask for the translation of any of your passports that are within the eligibility period. In case you cannot provide the translation, your citizenship application will be suspended until the officer receives the translation by mail. Please note that regardless of their date, all stamps in a passport within the eligibility period must be translated; that is, even stamps dated before the start of the eligibility period need to be translated.
Some stamps in my passport are in a language other than Persian, English, or French. What do I need to do?
If your passport also contains stamps that are in a language other than Persian, English, or French, besides ordering a Farsi-English translation of your passport, you will also have to seek the services of a certified translator of the other language or languages. To find a certified translator in any language combination, please visit ATIO’s Directory.
