Do I need to have my children’s birth certificates translated when applying for their passports?

According to IRCC website, parents who are applying for passports for their children need to provide proof of parentage. If you child is born in Canada, the Canadian long-form birth certificate can be provided. However, parents with foreign born children will need to have their children’s foreign birth certificates translated by a certified translator in Canada.
